Sheila, Angie, and I arrived at the bulb at 6:15 this morning and it already felt like a sultry summer day. We are in the midst of one of those heat waves where the warmth of the day doesn’t fully disappear overnight and I was eager to jump into the bay; had been dreaming about it all night as I tossed and turned under sticky sheets.

The water felt delicious. It was calm and cool. We beat low tide by enough that we didn’t have to scramble in and swam out past the Big Tree.

On the way back we lingered, not wanting to get out of the water and start our days; knowing that we would spend the rest of the day wishing we were back here, floating in the refreshing bay.
