Coldtober Days 2-4

Well, Coltober did its work of revitalizing my daily swimming but not daily blogging! I am struck by how difficult it is to blog every day (or ever) and reminded anew that the greater accomplishment of my year of swimming was not the fact that I managed a daily swim, but that I actually wrote about it every day.

On the second day of Coltober, Sheila and I had an early morning swim in the gray quiet of The Bulb.

On the third day, Sheila and I went a bit later and swam for a while with Kaushik, Kim, and Sarah. It was a glorious, sunny morning and, though the water was still a bit trashy, it also felt cool and wonderful.

On the fourth day, Sheila and I went early again and we finally got the glowing water sunrise experience we’ve been longing for. The water was calm and still, a flat plane of glass upon which the lights of the new day ribboned and swirled.

October 4th was also Eliza’s 21st birthday and, after our swim, Kevin and I started the long road trip up to Victoria to see her. One of my excuses for not writing is that I pretty much spent every waking hour trying to finish this blanket for her.

It’s not much of an excuse, though, because I didn’t start blogging once I finished.
