Last month Sheila and I were signed up to do a two-mile swim at Whiskeytown lake. It was a decision made in a flurry of excitement after doing a race at Donner lake the month before. We were woefully unprepared, but were still very disappointed when the swim was canceled due to low participation.
Given the fact that they couldn’t get enough people to sign up, I figured it wasn’t a very nice lake, but Kevin and I decided to stop there on our drive back from Victoria anyway. The timing was good and I was curious.
What a great choice!

Whiskeytown Lake is gorgeous! Plus we had just listened to a podcast about the way doing novel things makes you live longer (well not actually, but it expands one’s sense of felt time, so life doesn’t seem to go by so fast). So doing something new felt like an excellent idea.

And there is nothing like a dip in fresh, cool water to wash away the funk of a day spent sitting in a car.
