With more than 70% of 2024 behind us, I’m caught up with my temperature blanket.

I love the colors and the way it gives me a record of my swims. What I love the most is the way my motivation to record the temperature every day has gotten me into the water pretty consistently. So far, I’ve had two days of no swimming, which are indicated by the gray circled below. The one next to the blue is kind of hard to see, but it’s there. It was the day we flew to Germany. The one next to the yellow stands out like a sore thumb. That day, there was no good reason for not swimming, except that I didn’t feel like it. Which, actually, is a pretty good reason.

In that circle on the right, there’s also a lavendar stripe, which is my one day so far swimming in a pool (or my one day only swimming in a pool). I decided I didn’t want to put in the temperature for a pool swim, but rather to just make pool days all that same lavendar color.
And just to leave you with water, here was my swim yesterday.

What a work of art! An explosion of a California sunset falling into all of the colors of the sea … and an East coast red leaf (could it be maple?) floated into the lake where you last swam!
Thank you for that lovely description! And, yes, a maple leaf floating along.
Spectacualr. Is this water temperature or air temperature when you swam?
The proportions are great. Some temperature blankets I’ve seen seem to be way too long. What stitch are you using and how many in a row?
Thanks! It’s water temperature. Next year I’d like to do water and air and do it as granny squares. And, yes, I actually fear I’m going to fall into that category of too long because it seems perfect now, but there are still three+ months to go! It’s a moss stich and 274 across.
I’m impressed that you’re thinking of doing another one!!
