I was told that you aren’t supposed to do much swimming the day before a big event; you’re supposed to taper your swim training.

Having just read Sarah Thomas’s amazing account of her double North Channel swim (that’s from Scotland to Ireland and back again in 21 hours), my 3K tomorrow doesn’t seem especially “big.” Also, I haven’t really been training for it, so I’m not sure the idea of “tapering” applies to me.

But I’ve never been one to miss an opportunity to take it easy and so that’s what I did today! It’s a beautiful day, warm and as summery as can be. I had an easy breezy swim in my bay, more floating and playing than swimming. I didn’t even get my head wet.

Yum!
