I arrived late for the 7 o’clock swimmers this morning, but as soon as I saw the glassy water, pink from the blush of sunrise still tinging the sky, I was very happy to be having a solo swim.

After yesterday’s big swim, I wasn’t feeling the need to work too hard and the beauty of the morning keep me wanting to have my head up and my goggles off.
So I swam a peaceful breast stroke, a mellow side stroke, a little back stroke. I watched the birds. The pelicans converge in fewer numbers these days, but they are as mesmerizing as ever.

I watched the sun come up and set intentions for my week, imagining this feeling of well-being and peaceful joy might stay with me all week long.
