Today was a lovely swim at sunrise with friends. It’s rare that Sheila, Arwen, Angie, and I all manage to swim together these days and so it always feels special when it happens.

A frigid wind blew as we got into the water and with each wince and groan, I thought, it’s going to be so much colder than this in England next week. That thought didn’t exactly make it easier to plunge in, but it did inspire me to do so a little faster.

Even with these cold nights, the water temperature is holding at 50, which after a couple of minutes feels great. Invigorating aliveness pulsed through me as I watched the day brighten, the coming sun throwing its fragments of light onto the rippling waves of the bay.
