Today we had a cheerful holiday swim gathering at the Albany Bulb. Lots of swimmers came out, which seemed extra special because the numbers have been dwindling lately. It was great to swim with a big crowd again. There’s nothing like watching a dozen people brave the cold and go paddling off in all directions.

The water was 49 degrees. Sheila was glad that she got the below-50 experience before she leaves for New York; others may have been less enthusiastic. But, soon we were all happily swimming under the bright blue skies.

Afterward, we had delicious treats, hot chocolate and coffee, and so many wonderful conversations. I’m grateful for this group of people; for the way swimming has brought this lovely new community into my life.
