Sunrise

I woke much too early and after vainly struggling to go back to sleep, I got up and made coffee. It was a good idea. Snuggled on the couch in a blanket with my warm mug, I watched the day make its slow arrival. Every time I witness dawn near a body of water I am struck by the way the water glows before the sun has crested the horizon, as if it’s beckoning the sun.

I thought of putting on my bathing suit for a swim in that glowing first light, but the couch was too cozy, the coffee too delicious. Instead, I went in the bright sunshiny afternoon with blue skies and warm air.
